Formalizing a relation for electrical synapsing

The relations defined for chemical synapsing (see Relations) are entirely structural. It seems likely that a definition of electrical synapsing will require a functional component. If so, a critical component may be defining the processes involved and making sure these are incorporated into the GO biological process ontology.
